Eastbourne's elegant seafront is the envy of all other British seaside
towns. Two recent films bear testimony to this. "Southend Girls" uses shots of Eastbourne's
seafront and hotels, not Southend's! "Brighton Rock" is largely set in Eastbourne not Brighton!
Ironically, the magnificent art deco lido in the film "Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging" appears as 'Eastbourne Lido' but
is actually Saltdean's although most of the film is shot in Eastbourne.
As if Eastbourne town itself does not have enough thrills and excitement, a short distance away is the splendour of Beachy
Head and The Seven Sisters. A recent memorial to Bomber Command was recently unveiled on Beachy Head - fittingly, as this
was probably the last sight of England many of those gallant aircrews ever saw.
